Hornet Solar is a 600 MW utility-scale solar project developed by Vesper Energy in Swisher County, Texas. Spanning approximately 3,900 acres, it is one of the largest single-phase solar projects in the United States. Construction began in Fall 2023, with final module installation completed in January 2025. The project reached full commercial operation in April 2025. Hornet Solar uses more than 1.36 million solar panels, generating enough electricity to power approximately 160,000 homes annually. Over its operating life, the project is expected to generate more than $68 million in local tax revenue for Swisher County, Tulia Independent School District, and Swisher Memorial Hospital District.
